Upgrade to SimpleBoards Pro

Pro feature You need SimpleBoards Pro active to use this.

SimpleBoards Pro is a second plugin that adds private boards, announcements, workflow rules, checklist progress on cards, design controls, and Torin AI. It needs the free SimpleBoards plugin to work. This page shows you how to install Pro and turn it on with your license key.

Before you start

  • The free SimpleBoards plugin is installed and active.
  • You bought a SimpleBoards Pro license. Your purchase email has a download link for the Pro ZIP file and your license key.

Install the Pro plugin

  1. Save the Pro plugin ZIP file from your purchase email to your computer.
  2. In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins > Add New.
  3. Click Upload Plugin at the top of the page.
  4. Click Choose File and pick the Pro ZIP file.
  5. Click Install Now.
  6. After the upload finishes, click Activate Plugin.

When Pro activates, a new submenu appears under the SimpleBoards menu in the admin sidebar. You will see a License item near the bottom.

Add your license key

  1. In your WordPress admin, go to SimpleBoards > License.
  2. The page shows a panel called SimpleBoards Roadmap Pro license. Next to the title is a grey pill that reads Not activated.
  3. In the text box, type or paste your license key. It looks like SD1P-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXX.
  4. Click Activate.

If the key is good, the page reloads. The grey pill turns green and reads Active. The page now shows your key (with most of it hidden), the number of sites you are using on your plan, and the next renewal date.

What happens after activation

A few things turn on at once:

  • Your board edit screen gains new tabs. Open SimpleBoards > Boards and edit a board. You will see Workflow Automations and Design tabs alongside General.
  • The board edit screen gets a new section for Private access settings under General.
  • The roadmap item edit screen gains a Progress checklist section.
  • A new Announcements menu item appears under SimpleBoards. It lets you write release notes that visitors see on the board.
  • A new admin page for Torin AI appears, where you can register the relay and start using analysis on incoming ideas.

You can use each of these features one at a time. None of them must be turned on. The free behavior of your board does not change.

Move the license to another site

You can move your Pro license from one site to another. There is no extra cost. On the site you want to leave:

  1. Go to SimpleBoards > License.
  2. Click Deactivate this site. Confirm the prompt.
  3. The pill turns grey again. Pro keeps working on this site but stops getting updates.

On the new site, install the Pro plugin and follow the steps above with the same license key.

If activation fails

If you click Activate and the page shows a red message, check these in order:

  1. The key matches the one in your purchase email. Watch for extra spaces at the start or end.
  2. You did not paste the key on the wrong line.
  3. Your plan still has room for one more site. The license panel will show your site count once activation works on at least one site.
  4. Your server can reach simpleboardswp.com. If your host blocks outgoing connections, ask them to allow this address.

If the key looks right and the message still appears, contact [email protected] with a copy of the message.
