Change the look of the kanban column headers

Pro feature You need SimpleBoards Pro active to use this.

This page shows you how to change how the status name above each roadmap column looks. There are three built-in styles, and they all reuse the color you picked for each status. You do not need to set the colors twice.

Before you start

  • SimpleBoards Pro is active.
  • The board uses the Roadmap tab (it has at least one roadmap item).

The three header styles

  • Dot (minimal). A small coloured dot next to the status name, like ● Planned. Clean and quiet. Good for sites with a calm look.
  • Pill (soft tint). The status name sits inside a soft pill that uses the status color, like a small chip. Easy to read but not loud.
  • Bold (filled bar). A solid bar across the top of the column, in the status color, with the status name in white. The most visible style. Good for boards where you want each column to stand out.

The Pill and Bold styles both pull their color from the status's own color setting, so you do not have to set the same color twice. The Dot style also uses the status color, but only for the small dot.

Step by step

  1. In your WordPress admin, go to SimpleBoards > Boards.
  2. Click the title of the board.
  3. At the top of the board edit screen, click the Design tab.
  4. Click the Cards & Columns pill in the Customization row.
  5. Find the field labeled Column Header Style.
  6. Open the dropdown and pick one of:
    • Dot (minimal)
    • Pill (soft tint)
    • Bold (filled bar)
  7. Click the Update button at the bottom of the page.

What changed

The roadmap on the front of your site now shows the column headers in the style you picked. The change applies to this board only. Other boards keep their own setting.

If you want to change the color of any single column, edit the status itself (under SimpleBoards > Statuses) and pick a new color there. The column header on every board will use that color.
