Allow or block guest comments

Decide whether visitors can post comments without logging in, or whether only signed-in users can comment.

Before you start:

• Comments are turned on across the site. See Turn comments on or off across the whole site.

Step by step

1. In the WordPress admin menu, click SimpleBoards > Settings.
2. Open the Comments tab.
3. In the Guest Comments row:
   • Tick Allow visitors to comment without logging in to let guests post comments.
   • Untick the box to require all commenters to be logged in.
4. Click Save Changes.

What changed

If you allowed guests, the comment form shows fields for name and email. If you blocked guests, the comment form is replaced by a sign-in prompt for visitors who are not logged in.
