Move your license to a new site

This page shows you how to move your Pro license from one site to another. You can do this at any time, as many times as you like. There is no extra cost. To free up the seat first, you deactivate on the old site, then activate on the new one.

Before you start

• You have Pro installed and active on the site you are moving away from (the "old site").
• You have Pro installed and active on the site you are moving to (the "new site"). If not, install it on the new site first.
• You have your license key ready.

Step by step

On the old site

1. Go to SimpleBoards > License.
2. You will see the license panel with a green Active pill.
3. Click the Deactivate this site button.
4. A browser confirmation asks if you are sure. Click OK.

The page reloads. A green message says License deactivated. Slot freed. The pill turns grey and reads Not activated. The site count for your plan drops by one.

Pro features still work on the old site, but the site will no longer get automatic Pro updates. If you do not need Pro on this site any more, you can also deactivate the plugin from Plugins.

On the new site

1. Go to SimpleBoards > License.
2. Paste your license key into the text box.
3. Click Activate.

The pill turns green and reads Active. Pro features are now ready to use on the new site.

What changed

Your license now counts the new site instead of the old one. Your seat count on your plan does not go up. You can repeat these steps any time you change hosting, redesign on a new domain, or move from staging to production.
