Show progress on cards
This page explains where the progress bar appears, and where it does not. It is a short reference page to clear up a common question: do ideas show a progress bar too?
Where the progress bar appears
The progress bar only appears on roadmap items. It does not appear on ideas. This is intentional.
- Roadmap items are work the team has accepted. A checklist makes sense here, because the team has a plan and can break the work into steps.
- Ideas are user requests that have not been accepted yet. They have no plan and no steps to track.
If a card on the Ideas tab is missing a progress bar, that is by design. The bar will only appear after the idea is promoted to a roadmap item and a checklist is added.
When the progress bar shows
The progress bar shows on a roadmap card when all of the following are true:
- The checklist progress bar is turned on for the board. See Turn on the checklist progress bar for a board.
- The card belongs to a roadmap item, not an idea.
- The item has at least one checklist task. See Add tasks to a roadmap item's checklist.
If any of these is missing, the bar is hidden and the card looks the same as a free-plugin card.
What the bar looks like
The bar has three parts:
- A short line on the left, like 3/8 tasks. This is the count of tasks marked done over the total tasks.
- A percentage on the right, like 38%.
- A coloured bar across the bottom. Green at 80% or more, amber between 45% and 79%, red below 45%.
The same bar shows in the drawer panel when someone clicks the card. The drawer also lists the task names so a visitor can read what is left to do.
