Limit a board to logged-in users only
Pro feature You need SimpleBoards Pro active to use this.
This page shows you how to mark one board as private. After this change, only logged-in users can see the board. Visitors who are not logged in see a short notice asking them to sign in.
Before you start
- SimpleBoards Pro is active and your license is in the
Activestate. See Activate your Pro license. - The board you want to make private already exists.
Step by step
- In your WordPress admin, go to SimpleBoards > Boards.
- Click the title of the board you want to make private. The board edit screen opens on the General tab.
- Scroll down to the row labeled Visibility.
- Tick the checkbox next to Make this board private.
- Leave the Allowed roles box below it empty for now. With an empty list, any logged-in user can see the board.
- Click the Update button at the bottom of the page.
What changed
Your board is now private. Three things change at once:
- Visitors who are not logged in see the message This board is private. Please log in with an authorized account. They cannot read items, vote, or comment.
- Logged-in users see the board as normal.
- The board no longer appears in any board list that lists boards for public visitors. Logged-in users still see it.
You can turn the board back into a public board at any time. Untick Make this board private and click Update.
