Make a card more compact or roomier

Pro feature You need SimpleBoards Pro active to use this.

This page shows you which settings to change to make cards on your board feel tighter and denser, or larger and easier to read. There is no single "card size" slider. You adjust a small set of controls that together set the feel of each card.

Before you start

Make cards more compact

Open the Cards & Columns pill in the Customization row. Adjust these four:

  1. Corner Radius. Lower this to between 4px and 8px. Sharper corners look more dense.
  2. Card Shadow. Set this to Soft or None. Less depth makes the card look flatter and lighter.
  3. Card Hover Shadow. Set this to Soft or Medium.
  4. Card Title Size. Open the Typography pill and pick a lower value, for example 13px.

Then open the Votes & Due Dates pill and reduce these:

  1. Vote Text Size. Pick a smaller value like 11px.
  2. Vote Icon Size. Pick a smaller value like 14px.

Finally, open the Card Display pill and consider hiding extras you do not need:

  1. Card Number. Set this to Hide to remove the #number badge.
  2. Card Due Date. Set this to Hide if dates are not important on this board.
  3. Card Author. Set this to Hide if you do not want to show who submitted the idea.

Click Update to save.

Make cards roomier

Open the Cards & Columns pill and adjust these:

  1. Corner Radius. Raise this to between 12px and 20px. Larger curves feel softer and more spacious.
  2. Card Shadow. Set this to Medium or Deep. More depth makes the card feel like a real object on the page.
  3. Card Hover Shadow. Set this to Deep so the card lifts a bit when hovered.
  4. Card Title Size. Open the Typography pill and pick a higher value, like 16px.

Then open the Votes & Due Dates pill:

  1. Vote Corner Radius. Raise this to 16px or higher to make the vote button feel softer.
  2. Vote Icon Size. Pick 20px or higher.

Finally, open Card Display:

  1. Card Due Date. Set this to Show so visitors see the date on the card without opening the drawer.
  2. Card Author. Set this to Show for added context on each card.

Click Update to save.

A note on the due date color

If you show due dates on the card, the color of the date text is controlled by the Due Date Color field under the Votes & Due Dates pill. Pick a warm color (amber, red) if you want late dates to stand out, or pick a quiet grey if you do not want dates to be loud.

What changed

The card layout on the front of the board reflects your new values. The change applies to this board only. Other boards keep their own settings.

If you find a combination that works for you, save it as a custom theme so you can apply it to other boards in one click. See Save a custom theme so you can reuse it.
