Read the Top Ideas view
This page explains what the Top Ideas view inside the Torin AI panel shows you, how the order is decided, and what the numbers mean. Once you know how the score is built, you can trust the ranking and use it to decide what to look at first.
How to open the view
- In your WordPress admin, go to SimpleBoards > Items.
- Click the Torin AI button in the bottom right of the screen.
- In the panel, click Top Ideas. See Run an analysis on your ideas for the full walkthrough.
What you see
The view shows a short list of up to eight ideas. The strongest idea is at the top.
Each row contains:
- The idea's title in bold.
- A small line below the title that reads Votes: N · Comments: M.
Nis the total number of votes the idea has received.Mis the total number of comments on the idea.
How the ranking works
Torin orders the list by a simple internal score. Each idea's score is calculated as:
score = (votes × 3) + comments
Higher scores rank above lower scores. In plain words, a vote counts three times more than a comment. This is on purpose: voting is a clear yes-please signal, while comments can include questions, complaints, and off-topic chat. The vote multiplier keeps the list close to what users actually want.
Two short examples:
- An idea with
12votes and4comments scores(12 × 3) + 4 = 40. - An idea with
8votes and15comments scores(8 × 3) + 15 = 39.
The first idea ranks above the second, even though it has fewer comments.
What is not in the score
The Top Ideas view does not use:
- The idea's age.
- The category.
- Whether the idea is on the roadmap or still in the ideas tab.
If you want a list that takes age and roadmap presence into account, look at What Users Want Most instead. That view weighs different signals.
A note on scope
The list reflects the board (or boards) you had selected when you ran the analysis. If you ran the analysis with All Boards picked, the top eight are pulled from every board on your site. If you ran it for one board only, the top eight come from that board.
